Fred. - Magazine Construction

I chose Fred as a title because it immediately caught my eye when there is a list of magazine name on the board. I use the font 'simpletype' from the website because I was going to make a technology magazine. and this font suit the type of magazine cover I was going to make.

This is Marques Brownlee who is a 21 year old from New Jersey, United States. He make videos on youtube about new technology mainly phones technology and knowledge videos. I chose him because I am highly interested in phones and technology and his videos are far better than actual companies who make videos put together.

This is the barcode which I have placed my barcode on the bottom right hand corner for realism, and also placed the price and the issue number above the barcode and made sure that they were in line with each other.

Class Feeedback

By receiving feedback from the class and the teacher, I have decided to changed my name of the magazine. This is because the title sort of suggest that it would be more suitable for a magazine on all types of music instead of just one genre. I am changing it from 'NRN' which stands No Restrictions Necessary to 'Hipnotised'. I will be changing the spelling of the word from hypnotised to 'Hipnotised. This is because I was mainly going to concentrate my music around RnB but now that i have been getting into Hip Hop more I believe that they work together and are similar categories because I listen to both. I was asked one the frequency that my magazine would be published and the price and i have decided that it will be a monthly magazine at the price £3.99 as this was a common price but i might decide to lower the price to around £2.99. This is because I feel that mainly students around the ages of 17-21 which i stayed in my pitch will be buying them and won't have much money to spend as they are students. I Feel that the new title of my magazine is a suitable name for it because it is to do with Hip Hop as I said before and quite a catchy yet striking name. I believe that most people buy magazine on a weekly or monthly basis are drawn in by the information and or the gossip and this leads them to buy the next issue as there is something new and interesting to read. The title of my magazine suggest this is the reader may be "hypnotised" by the information when the title is taken at face value.

Media Instuitutes

I think that the media institution that would most likely publish my magazine is 'BAUER MEDIA GROUP' because they already have a very good understand of the music industry as they publish popular music magazines like 'KERRANG' & 'NME' & 'MOJO' & 'Q' magazine. BAUER should be able to publish and distribute my magazine exclusively in the UK. This is because it would promote the magazine more as people from outside of the UK might want to read it. They already distribute NME and Q which means that will have a strong understanding of the market and will be able to advertise my magazine successfully. I believe that there is room for a 'premium' Hip-Hop/RnB magazine which has a clean and simple look, for example like 'THE FADER'

Photographer / Graphic Designer / Magazine Creator

Photographer:

His work has been featured in Rolling Stone, Slam, XXl, Vibe, Esuire Magazine other clients include Atlantic Records, Epic Records and he has even shot ad campaigns For Mountain Dew.
His work captures the true essence of cultural life, His photography are mainly black and white and his approach refine the through a third persons perspective. This helps the audience have an true viewpoint of cultural life.

He released book was released in 2010 called "True Hip-Hop" and was published with Mark Batty. This book is features his photography which shows you about the type of style he has when taking photographs.

Graphic Designer:

Jacqueline Casey

Jacqueline Casey has a very unique style I think and this is why I like her work, as you can above her designs are give a simple yet professional, clean and futuristic look. I like this because it simple but fresh. She was born in 1927 and died in 1991 and yet her designs look very futuristic and contemporary even in todays market.  She often uses strong elemental imagery, manipulated by letterforms as well.

Magazine Creator:

Tibor Kalman and Oliviero Toscani, because they are the creators of colors magazine. This magazine has a ver unique style which i like because it is something different which not many magazines say that they can do. They have very interesting images on the cover and they always translate the title in french as well as english which is quite unique when the magazine is about the world. Each individual magazines have a theme thats runs through the whole magazine. Like the Dollar bill design the front and back of the magazine is a 100 dollar bill and the whole magazine is a square shape to resemble a folded 100 dollar bill note. Also the 'superheroes' issue the whole magazine is a comic book and all the pictures are comicy.

Audience profile - Style of magazine

I will be targeting a mixed audience which I think works well as some music is similar in the way that people listen to it. Also I think that this mixed genre of RnB which overlaps with Hip Hop works because there will be many people who like RnB or who like Hip Hop who wants to listen to something similar or wants to get into it. This is because a friendship group their will be very mixed taste but most of the time it will be similar taste and other will appreciate music which is similar because of this. The magazine will be aimed at people around 16 to 21 this is because i think that 26 is the age where we start to appreciate music and truly identify what are music taste are with respect that they will change as we get older. I like soul and RnB but recently i have been getting into Hip Hop and I quite like it and for me I think that this combination works well because of some similarities like both are quite base heavy, both can feature rapping. They might like to look at the billboard charts and the magazine.

Artist they might listen to include: Beyonce, Mary J Blige, Chris Brown, Kid Ink, Kendrick Lamarr, J.cole, Rick Ross, and Kanye West.

Brands they might like include: Jordans, Billionaire Boys Club, Levi's, Undefeated.

Colour palette analysis

Colour palette 1:

I like this colour palette because the colour are similar and they work together. They go from a deep sky blue to a blue grey to a deep dark green. Because the colours are similar if I were to use them in my magazine they would give a consistent look across my magazine and therefore would bring my magazine together with a blue theme around it all.

Colour palette 2:

Black and white themes are very common on magazine which give them a smart, simple and attractive look to them. The colour palette is very simple as it goes from black to white with colours which blend well with them. I think that if i use this colour palette in my throughout my magazine it would give it a professional and clean look.

Colour palette 3:

This colour palette is strange because these colours are unusual on a magazine they are normally used with some other contrasting colour. It ranges from a deep dark orange to a rich brown. I think that if i used this colour palette it would give my magazine a unique look and feel. I haven't seen many magazine with this colour scheme which will give my magazine the edge because it will attractive the eye with its unique colour palette.

Font Analysis

Above me are some fonts which I am considering to use for my magazine. These fonts are bold and catch the eye, two that really appeal to me is the ones in red. I think that they are the ones that stand out for and they are quite unique especially the one on the far right in red. All of these font are unique as they have there own special characters like a brushed effect or texture within the letters. Or even a blurred effect which brings the title meaning to life.

Examples of other texts

All these magazine have unique styles which i live because they aren't similar to any other magazine. I really like the style of the 'TRACE' magazines because all of the are different which shows that they don't all have the same layout which they have to follow.
